The $30 trillion asset tokenization service will be launched, with DTCC listing Stellar as a partner for 2027
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) will open commercial access to tokenization services this month, covering approximately $30 trillion in assets under the DTC central securities depository, accounting for a quarter of its custodial assets. Initially, the service will operate only on the closed platforms of Canton and Besu, with the first batch including 25 liquidity instruments, including U.S. Treasury bonds, major ETFs, and Russell 1000 large-cap stocks. The system only supports two types of participants to convert traditional securities into tokens via UI or API from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, and institutions can transfer between wallets around the clock.
Stellar (XLM) is listed as a partner set to launch in 2027, and will be integrated with Circle's Arc program according to the SEP-41 standard, with the original timeline for the first half of 2027 unchanged. A closed pilot in July of this year had participation from over 30 Wall Street institutions.
