After Binance resumed withdrawals, there was a net outflow of 5.8 billion USD in 24 hours
According to Cointelegraph, after the cryptocurrency exchange Binance resumed withdrawals, DefiLlama data shows that net outflows reached $5.8 billion in the past 24 hours. The related outflows occurred after Binance experienced a $6.3 billion hack and users began to withdraw their assets again.
Binance stated that it began to resume withdrawals at 6:00 UTC on Sunday and has processed $4.6 billion in withdrawals, while approximately $1 billion was deposited during the same period, resulting in a net outflow of $3.6 billion. Binance noted that the withdrawal volume has slowed and stabilized after an initial increase, with the outflow representing a small portion of its approximately $171 billion in assets. Cointelegraph has contacted Binance for comment but has not received an immediate response.
An update from Binance at 12:36 UTC indicated that withdrawals for tokens on 15 networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and XRP Ledger, have been opened, and it will continue to gradually restore more assets and networks. Early data shared by Binance showed that the highest proportion of withdrawals was for USDT, followed by USDC and Bitcoin. On Saturday, Binance stated that it had utilized the company treasury, user security asset fund, and futures insurance fund to cover 90% of the stolen assets.
