The Akash community will migrate from Cosmos to Solana through proposal 346
The Akash community approved the migration of the Akash protocol from the Cosmos independent chain akashnet-2 to the Solana mainnet through governance proposal 346. On-chain data shows that the proposal passed with approximately 97% in favor and a voter turnout of about 68.8%. Akash is an open computing platform aimed at the AI and inference era, gathering distributed computing power supply through a decentralized computing market.
The proposal authorizes AKT to be issued as SPL tokens on Solana after the audit is completed at the token and migration portal, and opens a two-year one-way migration portal, allowing AKT holders to migrate to SPL AKT at a 1:1 ratio. Two independent code audits must be completed before the launch, expected to take place within 2 to 3 weeks after the proposal passes. After the migration is completed, the computing power trading market Akash Marketplace, the AI inference platform AkashML, and Akash Homenode will be natively deployed on Solana.
The Akash team stated that the reasons for choosing Solana include lower transaction costs, a mature DePIN ecosystem, liquidity, and a large on-chain user base. The proposal did not set a date for the switch of the computing power market; the market migration will still need to be decided by a separate governance vote after the audits and migration rehearsals are passed, and subsequent on-chain decisions will involve market switch proposals, upgrade toggles, and downtime upgrades.
