Sand.ai completed a $200 million A+ round of financing and entered the unicorn club
On November 5, the video large model company Sand.ai announced the completion of a $200 million Series A+ financing round, led jointly by Cornerstone Capital and Wangsu Technology, with participation from Shanghai State-owned Assets and Times Capital, among others, while existing shareholders such as Matrix Partners continued to increase their investment. This is the company's third round of financing completed in 2026, with a total financing amount reaching $300 million within 10 months, officially entering the unicorn ranks after this round of financing.
Sand.ai was founded by former Microsoft Research Asia senior researcher Cao Yue, and its core product is the video generation foundational model MAGI series. The company open-sourced the video generation model MAGI-2 Preview with a trillion-parameter MoE architecture in August 2026, with a total parameter count of 114 billion, activating about 6 billion parameters in a single generation. According to official information, a larger parameter version of MAGI-2 will be officially released soon, and the funds from this round of financing will mainly be used for the research and development of video foundational models, construction of training and inference infrastructure, product iteration, and global market expansion.
