Multiple CFTC officials who questioned the regulation of the prediction market have been suspended and forced to resign

According to Cointelegraph, an investigative report released by The New York Times on Sunday revealed that several senior officials from the CFTC, who had raised regulatory concerns about Polymarket, Crypto.com, and Gemini affiliates, were subsequently suspended, subjected to internal investigations, and forced to resign. The three companies mentioned have been accused of having business ties to the Trump family. The report stated that then-CFTC acting chair Caroline Pham and her senior advisors intervened to assist the aforementioned companies in obtaining the necessary approvals. By the end of 2025, five officials who questioned or enforced cryptocurrency regulatory laws were placed on administrative leave and internal investigation, without being informed of the specific reasons. After leaving, Pham joined the cryptocurrency company MoonPay, which has a partnership with Polymarket, while her senior advisor Brigitte Weyls became the legal counsel for Gemini Titan—whose application was approved with her involvement. On the enforcement front, the CFTC has withdrawn at least five cryptocurrency investigations, with the number of enforcement actions plummeting from over 80 during the Biden administration to just two during Trump's term. In response, a White House spokesperson denied any conflict of interest, stating that "President Trump only acts in the best interest of the American public."

Glassnode: Bitcoin has reclaimed the real market average but has not been able to hold steady; on-chain indicators suggest consolidation may continue for several months

Glassnode stated that Bitcoin has reclaimed the real market average at $78,300 but has failed to maintain a position above this level. Historical cycles suggest that several weeks to months of consolidation may be needed before confirming a credible bull market transition. The 30-day moving average has seen its risk-reward ratio rise from 0.4 in February to 1.8 during the rebound, indicating that demand is insufficient to absorb the wave of profit-taking. This indicator needs to remain above 2 to signal a true recovery of buyer strength. The 30-day cost baseline at $78,200 has shifted from a support level to an overhead resistance level, while the cost baseline of the accumulation group formed from February to April ($71,400) is currently the most direct support level in the ongoing pullback. The internal structure of the spot market has weakened in recent weeks, with the cumulative volume delta (CVD) remaining negative overall, and Coinbase activity continues to lag. This indicates that while there is sporadic offshore speculative demand, the participation of U.S. institutions in the spot market remains relatively weak.CME futures open interest has continued to rise alongside prices, indicating that while overall spot demand remains hesitant near the current range highs, institutional participation in the derivatives market is improving. The accumulation rate of U.S. spot ETFs has recently slowed, further indicating that positions are increasingly driven by futures activity. Implied volatility is rebounding from low levels, primarily concentrated in short-term contracts, while long-term expectations remain stable. Realized volatility continues to decline, and the volatility risk premium has expanded, making the cost of hedging relatively manageable. Options positions remain defensive. The skew indicator shows a resurgence in demand for downside protection, while the negative gamma range around $75,000 makes spot prices susceptible to amplified hedging flows and increased price volatility.

TAC: About 90% of the stolen assets have been recovered, and the cross-chain bridge will resume operation after the audit is completed

The TON Network expansion project TAC has disclosed that a security incident occurred with the TON-TAC asset bridge on May 11. Four days later, approximately 80% of the affected assets have been returned. TAC today released a post-incident analysis report detailing the events. The root cause of the vulnerability was a lack of a single verification in the sorter software: the attacker deployed a counterfeit Jetton wallet on TON, and the sorter accepted the counterfeit tokens because it did not verify the code hash of the sender's wallet. The total loss was approximately $2.86 million, involving USDT, BLUM, and tsTON. Following a public appeal, about 90% of the assets were returned to the multi-signature address controlled by TAC on May 14, with the remaining 10% retained by the attacker. The cross-chain bridge remains paused, awaiting independent review of the repaired sorter software by the auditing party and TON partners. Cross-chain operations will resume once the verification of the repaired software is completed and the gap is filled with recovered assets and TAC Foundation token reserves. Due to the need for multi-party coordination, a precise timeline cannot be provided. The remaining funding gap will be filled by the TAC Foundation treasury, ensuring that users and protocols incur no financial losses. TAC reminds users that official updates are only published through this account and Telegram, and any unsolicited "recovery" or "support" private messages are scams.

Verus: The network has been suspended, and if the attacker returns the funds, a bounty for the vulnerability will be offered

Verus posted on the X platform confirming that the Verus-Ethereum cross-chain bridge has been attacked, with ETH, USDC, and tBTC stolen from the Ethereum chain contracts. Currently, other bridged assets have not been affected. The Verus network has now suspended operations, and most block-producing nodes have proactively gone offline after experiencing the impact of the attack. The development team is working hard to investigate the scope of the incident, the attack path, and subsequent handling plans, and will announce progress after confirming more information.Verus stated that it is willing to cooperate with relevant law enforcement agencies to pursue legal responsibility; however, if the attacker returns the full amount of funds, the project team is willing to offer a bug bounty and will not pursue further accountability. Verus also reminds anyone claiming to be a member of the Verus team or community in public channels, private messages, or other channels and offering "compensation" or "reimbursement plans" to be scammers. The official emphasizes not to interact with anyone claiming to have compensation projects or offering reimbursement, and to report relevant accounts to Discord or the X platform in a timely manner.Previously, the Verus Ethereum cross-chain bridge was attacked, resulting in a loss of approximately $11.58 million.
