Algorand appointed former Chainlink executive William Herkelrath as the new CEO
According to CoinDesk, the Algorand Foundation has officially appointed William Herkelrath as CEO, succeeding Staci Warden, who held the position for nearly five years. Herkelrath previously held leadership roles at blockchain data provider Chainlink and crypto custody company Curv, and co-founded the AI automation platform K3 Labs, officially taking office on August 31.Algorand stated that the new CEO will focus on driving institutional business expansion and post-quantum security initiatives. Currently, Algorand has introduced post-quantum accounts based on the Falcon-1024 cryptographic signature system in the v42 consensus upgrade and plans to achieve full quantum resistance by 2028. Additionally, the foundation's board has been adjusted, with Alex Fowler joining, while Rebecca Rettig and Michael Mosier have stepped down.
