Texas builder Megatel Homes has been approved by the SEC to launch the cryptocurrency reward token MegPrime
According to Reuters, Texas-based private home builder Megatel Homes LLC announced the launch of MegPrime cryptocurrency payment and reward tokens. Previously, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a "no-action" letter to the company on Thursday, allowing it to proceed with the project. The MegPrime token is intended to be used as a payment and reward tool, rather than an investment product.Users can spend the token at merchants through digital wallets and payment cards, earning MegPrime token cashback, discount gift cards, or points redeemable for home-related benefits. MegPrime token holders do not have voting rights or dividend rights as securities. The token is an extension of the company's 2019 plan, which allowed renters to convert their rent into equity for purchasing a home.
