Belarus plans to ban peer-to-peer encrypted transactions to reduce fraud

ChainCatcher news, according to TheBlock, Alexander Ringevich, the Deputy Head of the Criminal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, stated in a statement on Sunday that Belarus plans to introduce legislation to ban peer-to-peer (P2P) cryptocurrency transactions to reduce the occurrence of fraud.According to Ringevich, since 2023, the Ministry has suspended the activities of 27 individuals providing "illegal" cryptocurrency exchange services, with illegal earnings reaching nearly 22 million rubles (8.4 million USD). To prevent such incidents, the Ministry is seeking to restrict cryptocurrency P2P services, which means that cryptocurrency transactions will only be allowed through registered exchanges.
