2021 can be said to be a year of strong explosion for NFTs, with many celebrities, artists, games, and even companies entering the world of blockchain.

Similar to other technology fields, the NFT space is still predominantly male-dominated, both in terms of visibility and transaction volume. Female-themed NFT projects are far behind those led by men.

A new report from the art market research organization ArtTactic at the end of last year pointed out that, over the past 21 months, female artists accounted for only 16% of sales on the NFT platform Nifty Gateway.

As we step into 2022, many female-themed projects are gradually emerging in the NFT market.

These female-themed NFT projects are not just investments; they focus more on charitable activities, calling for social attention to gender equality, promoting women's education, and more, aiming to create a more diverse and inclusive space in the blockchain and NFT world, with World of Women being one of them.

1: Project Overview

World of Women is an NFT avatar project hand-painted by Middle Eastern artist Yam Karkai, consisting of ten thousand female avatars. Each NFT has a unique appearance, showcasing influential women from different perspectives. Yam Karkai emphasizes women's rights in various aspects through her female-centered works, aiming to convey the concepts of inclusivity and equality to users.

This NFT series advocating for women's issues has seen its entry threshold rise significantly and has gained support from many celebrities. Reese Witherspoon was the first celebrity to spark this trend, as her media company Hello Sunshine collaborated with WoW to create television shows and events.

At the 2022 Billboard Women in Music Awards, World of Women was invited to create NFT avatar covers for three music queens, honoring Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, and Madonna. World of Women also previously announced a partnership with Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary.

Not only is there a celebrity effect, but WoW also donates to many charitable programs and organizations, including "Too Young to Wed," which opposes child marriage, and "She's the First," which seeks educational opportunities for girls in various countries and regions.

2: Application Scenarios

The World of Women project, composed of female avatars, has issued a total of 10,000 NFTs, released on July 27 of last year, with an initial price of 0.07 ETH each.

These NFT avatars are 800x800 png images, available for anyone to copy and use. NFT owners can unlock a 4000x4000 high-resolution version and hold commercial rights to the avatar. Female avatar NFTs with special accessories can even receive 50% of the sharing royalties and profits from the WoW fund, as well as the right for the WoW fund to purchase NFT works priced at no more than 0.3 ETH.

When Karkai designed the WoW NFTs, she deliberately avoided using any religious or political symbols, as well as any elements "specific to cultural customs." These design details, combined with the randomly generated conditions during the initial sales period, ensured the rarity and collectibility of each NFT avatar.

Karkai does not deliberately cater to the stereotypes of mainstream NFT players but instead practices WoW's commitment to supporting early female artists.

These principles have been well-received by the project's fans, and WoW promises to hold an "ArtDrops" event every month, airdropping works from emerging crypto artists (many of whom are women) from around the world into NFT holders' wallets.

The team's strong collaborative ability ensures that Artdrop occurs as scheduled each time, and this continuous airdrop also motivates early NFT holders to hold long-term.

It is worth mentioning that World of Women donates 7.5% of all sales to real-world charitable projects to support women.

Royalty Club:

Collectors who own 19 female avatar NFTs wearing WoW Coin necklaces and earrings are entitled to share 50% of the sales royalties from the Opensea secondary market.

Investor Club:

Collectors who own 29 female avatar NFTs wearing Art Lover necklaces are entitled to share 50% of the profits generated by the World of Women (WoW) fund.

Curator Club:

Collectors who own 21 female avatar NFTs wearing Artist Palettes earrings are entitled to suggest one NFT work priced at no more than 0.3 ETH for the WoW fund to purchase each month.

Free Fiat Entry and Exit:

Users can exchange their cryptocurrencies for dollars without paying any fees and transfer funds to their mainstream bank accounts.

3: Donation Institutions

The WoW fund uses 15% of the project's sales to reinvest in crypto art, reselling, lending, and selling NFT artworks to generate profits to share with the Investor Club based on suggestions from the Curator Club.

The project also supports women by donating 7.5% of sales to real-world charitable projects:

She's The First:

Collaborates with grassroots organizations worldwide to ensure that local girls receive education, respect, and a voice.

Too Young To Wed:

Helps address child marriage issues through news reporting, advocacy for education, and providing relief funds, promoting gender equality and educational access.

Strange Cintia:

Cintia is an artist suffering from severe chronic fatigue syndrome, and the WoW community hopes to fund her treatment for a speedy recovery.

4: Investment Institutions

Recently, The Sandbox announced a partnership with World of Women to bring WoW NFT collectibles into The Sandbox.

This collaboration is seen as a move by both parties to promote inclusivity and equality in the metaverse. The partnership includes establishing the WOW Foundation, providing $25 million in funding to promote women's participation in decentralized fields, and working together to create an interactive world in The Sandbox, focusing on women-centered initiatives, building a WOW museum on a 2×2 plot, and even founding WOW University to provide users with guidance and tutorials on how to start using Web3.

According to data from NFTGO.io on March 10, the market value of World of Women has surpassed $100 million, with a total trading volume of $172.97 million and a floor price of 7.2 ETH.

World Of Women is the leading female-oriented collectible project in the crypto space, having acquired the then most expensive WoW NFT in The Sandbox for 200 ETH, named Aurora. Yam Karkai revealed that WoW will pixelate all 10,000 NFTs in the virtual world "so that the entire community can join us."

5: Team Introduction

World of Women has come this far thanks to four friends sharing the same vision. The current team consists of nine members who unite around the original mission of creating a beautiful, diverse, powerful collection and a thriving community.

Founder Yam Karkai is an NFT artist whose work focuses on bringing women into the spotlight, combining vibrant, harmonious colors with playful lines. Her ongoing mission is to center women in her works, highlighting and enhancing their power in society.

Before entering the NFT space, Karkai was a freelance digital artist, and her journey was no different from others in the field. She joined freelancer platforms like Fiverr, trying to find clients.

She recalls, "At that time, I felt I could never become a famous artist." Then she encountered NFTs. She stated, "I entered NFTs because I was excited about being an artist in a way that was different from before; it was entirely up to me, and I held the power."

7: Chain Tea Review

Most participants in the NFT circle are male, and there are few projects led by women or featuring women as protagonists.

Artist Yam Karkai recognized this and created the World of Women (WoW) NFT, resulting in the rise of female image NFTs. This not only breaks the common perception that NFTs are male-dominated but also has significant implications for new female empowerment, allowing more people to see the value of NFTs beyond digital assets.

The popularity of the WoW project has also driven up the floor prices of many female-themed NFT projects, with most projects experiencing several-fold increases.
