Crypto.com trial for mistakenly transferring 10.5 million USD to Australian woman, with 3 million USD still to be repaid
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, the lawsuit against Crypto.com for mistakenly transferring 10.5 million dollars to an Australian woman recently went to court. The defendant couple pleaded not guilty and argued that they won the funds through a competition, as they had previously received a notification from Crypto.com about a contest, which the plaintiff denied.
It is reported that the defendant couple used the 10.5 million dollars for high expenditures such as four houses, vehicles, and artworks. Currently, they have repaid about 7 million dollars, with 3 million dollars still outstanding. The defendants also face charges of theft and other accusations, with a hearing scheduled for November 8.
ChainCatcher previously reported that in May last year, a woman in Melbourne, Australia, mistakenly received 10.5 million dollars while applying for a 100-dollar refund from Crypto.com. Seven months later, Crypto.com filed a lawsuit against the woman in the Supreme Court, claiming that an error in the payment field led to the incident and demanding the recovery of the funds.
