Analyzing the popular "T2E" project TwitFi: A new type of GameFi that combines social and gaming
Written by: 0xBun, Deep Tide TechFlow
Although X2E has come to an end, it remains one of the relatively novel systems in Web3, attracting considerable liquidity. X2E is a highly flexible narrative, and its manifestation depends on people's imagination. In other words, "X" can don any guise people desire, such as Play, Write, or even Sleep. Today, the "X" we will see is Tweet, and we will explore how to earn rewards by posting tweets.
What is TwitFi?
TwitFi is a Web 3 social network game that features GameFi functionality. The game is easy to get started with; you just need to connect your wallet and Twitter account to their official website, and you will have completed two-thirds of the setup.

Finally, you need to prepare TwitFi's NFT, which is an interactive NFT designed based on birds. Players can spend money or mint a pet egg for free during the market or minting period. Of course, different types of eggs will hatch into different types of birds. For example, if it's a free egg, it will most likely hatch into a Baby type bird. It is important to note that Baby type birds cannot be sold on the secondary market.

With these preparations, players can post tweets with the hashtag #TwitFi on Twitter to earn in-game tokens, which can be used in the game or redeemed.

T2E Mechanism
If earning rewards just by posting tweets were the only feature, it would be too boring and difficult to fend off speculators. To make TwitFi feel more like a game, the project decided to innovate with NFTs.
As mentioned earlier, when you hatch an egg into a bird, there will be four types of birds and five levels. Birds of different types and levels will earn different amounts of tokens per tweet.

Moreover, NFTs do not earn tokens directly; instead, they do so through a medium called "feed." Once our feed runs out, we can no longer earn tokens by posting tweets. We will then have to wait for the feed to be replenished. The recovery speed of the feed varies depending on the bird's level, as shown in the image below.

However, regardless of the level, each NFT can have a maximum feed limit of 10, and players can accumulate up to 50 feeds by purchasing feed boxes.
Clearly, the level is key to earning tokens, so how can players upgrade their birds' levels? In addition to purchasing high-level birds on the secondary market, players can use the tokens they earn (TWT) to upgrade their levels, and there is a waiting period before the upgrade:

To further reduce the market pressure on TWT and enhance the game's sustainability, a "virus" mechanism has been introduced in the NFTs. When you tweet, there is a certain probability that the NFT will get infected with a virus. If the NFT is infected, your tweet will not earn TWT. The infection will heal after 7 days. Alternatively, you can purchase medicine on the market to cure it immediately.
The infection probability depends on the number of tweets made by the NFT:

It is important to note that although the NFT will heal after infection, after being infected 20 times, the NFT will be automatically destroyed.
Advantages and Disadvantages of the Game
TwitFi is a game that focuses on social interaction, with a clear target audience: people who frequently use social media. What makes TwitFi unique is that it allows players to earn real rewards by posting tweets on social media. This enables players to enjoy interaction while also gaining economic benefits.
Additionally, the pet system in the game increases its playability. This is because pets, as an element of the game, serve as a means to enhance the fun and complexity of the game—TwitFi has created a series of mechanisms derived from pets that provide the game with sustainable operational power.
However, the game's strengths can also be its weaknesses. For example, the recovery speed of the "feed" provided in the game depends on the bird's level, which may lead players to feel that purchasing high-level NFTs is necessary. Furthermore, the game's playability is relatively poor; simply tweeting does not generate much user engagement, especially during bear markets.
In summary, TwitFi is still in its early stages. By bridging Web2 and Web3 through tweets and NFTs, it brings new energy to Web3, and the game's creativity and ideas are commendable. However, its moat has yet to be established, the model is easily replicable, and whether the game can operate stably after its official release remains to be seen.
