NIO: Some user data was stolen and a ransom of 2.25 million dollars in equivalent Bitcoin was demanded

ChainCatcher news, NIO Inc. (NIO.N) Chief Information Security Scientist and Head of the Information Security Committee, Lu Long, announced in the official NIO community that on December 11, 2022, NIO received an external email claiming to possess internal NIO data and demanding a ransom of $2.25 million (approximately 15.705 million RMB) in equivalent Bitcoin for the leaked data.

It is reported that upon receiving the ransom email, NIO immediately established a special team to investigate and respond to the situation, and promptly reported the incident to the relevant regulatory authorities. According to preliminary investigations, the stolen data includes some basic user information and vehicle sales information prior to August 2021. (Source link)
