ChainCatcher news, Ethereum Foundation DevOps engineer Parithosh Jayathi revealed that they have successfully created a shadow fork blockchain replica for the Shanghai critical upgrade. A shadow fork is a smaller test fork that can implement some changes needed before deploying the Shanghai upgrade. The shadow fork occurred at 5:40 AM EST on January 23 (6:40 PM Beijing time). The public testnet for the Shanghai upgrade will be launched in the coming days.

According to Ethereum Foundation software developer Marius Van Der Wijden, some issues arose with Ethereum nodes using the Geth client within a few hours after the fork occurred. (CoinDesk)
