Ripple CEO calls on the U.S. to embrace cryptocurrency, or it will hinder innovation
ChainCatcher news, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse is the latest to publicly oppose the U.S. government's war on cryptocurrency. In an interview with Bloomberg, he stated that cryptocurrency and fintech have already left the U.S., and the industry's shift overseas is detrimental to innovation in the country.
He mentioned that the SEC's lawsuit against Ripple is actually not about XRP, but about the entire industry, and how the SEC is "attacking" the whole sector.
Garlinghouse added that when this case began over two years ago, not everyone understood this point. However, with the recent ongoing crackdown on the cryptocurrency industry, it is clear that the agency is opposing the entire sector.
Additionally, he pointed out that the U.S. SEC has recently taken five enforcement actions, stating, "This is not a healthy way to regulate the industry." The U.S. has fallen behind countries like Australia, the UK, Japan, Singapore, and Switzerland. (source link)
