ETHGlobal Tokyo Attendance Guide: Registration, Venue Information, Project Submission, and Review

Are you ready to attend ETHGlobal Tokyo? In the coming weeks, thousands of Web3 developers and creatives will gather in one of the coolest cities in the world for a weekend of hackathons and workshops. ETHGlobal Tokyo is our first in-person event of the year, and you definitely don’t want to miss it. Given the busy nature of the event, we think it would be helpful to provide some quick tips for attendees so you can hit the ground running in April.

Step 1: Registration

Upon arriving at Toranomon Hills, you should head to the registration desk to collect your badge, wristband, and gift bag. We will be registering everyone over the course of two days. Please join us on Thursday, April 13, to avoid waiting in line on Friday!

  • Early Registration - Local time April 13, 2 PM, 4th and 5th floors of Toranomon Hills Forum

  • Main Registration - Local time April 14, 2 PM, 4th and 5th floors of Toranomon Hills Forum

Complete your check-in at ETHGlobal Tokyo in 3 simple steps:

  1. Prepare your identification

  2. Get your hacker/sponsor/speaker badge and wristband

  3. Collect your gift bag!

Note: While we encourage you to register early to avoid lines, you will not be able to enter the event venue before the official opening time. You must wear your badge and wristband at all times to enter the venue.

Step 2: Venue Information

  • Toranomon Hills Forum - 4th and 5th floors of Toranomon Hills Mori Tower

Once you complete registration, you can enjoy the fun perks that ETHGlobal Tokyo has to offer. We have prepared many activities throughout the weekend that you will find interesting. As always, we will provide food and drinks so you can sit back, relax, and kick off the Hackathon!

A few things to note:

  • Please note that you need to bring your own laptop and charger; the organizing committee will not provide them. Make sure you have a suitable plug adapter for your computer.

  • From Friday, April 15 to Sunday, April 17, all attendees can enjoy the provided meals and snacks.

  • You will have 24-hour access to the venue.

We know you are working hard, but we encourage you to take breaks from time to time (and share your experiences on social media!). Feel free to share anything you want, and we are happy to showcase what our hackers are working on. Additionally, don’t miss the opportunity to connect with our partners, who are eager to meet you.

Step 3: Project Submission and Review

Our project submission and review process is designed to make it easy for you to receive feedback on your work. You will submit your project through the Hacker Dashboard, but you will not receive a review appointment until you appear in the main review lounge on Sunday morning.

  • Step 1: Go to the review room

  • Step 2: Receive your review appointment

  • Step 3: Present your project to the judges in the room assigned to you

  • Step 4: Present your demo at the partner tables (if you are interested in competing for partner awards)

As with all our events, you will have the opportunity to have your project reviewed live by a panel of ecosystem experts. We believe this is crucial for developers and creatives in our community (like you) to connect face-to-face with those building the projects you have worked on or hope to work on one day!

Note: If you do not wish to compete for the final awards, you do not need to participate in the main review.

Step 4: Celebrate!

After submitting your project, you can relax. Once we finish reviewing project submissions, we will contact the shortlisted teams via Discord and give them the opportunity to showcase the projects they built on stage. No matter how many awards you win, you will be one of the few who built their project at the ETHGlobal hackathon.

Note: If you are selected as a finalist for ETHGlobal Tokyo, we will notify you via Discord at 2:00 PM local time (before the closing ceremony). Please check Discord frequently to avoid missing the notification.

While we will select finalists from each event, it is important to note that hackathons are more about personal growth than competition. We encourage all hackers to take risks, try new things, and get hands-on experience—we can’t wait to see what you build!

Safety at ETHGlobal Tokyo Event

We are working hard to create the best environment for you during your time in Tokyo. All major cities pose some risks to travelers, and Tokyo is no exception. Please read our "Tokyo City Tips" document to prepare for this event!

To support these efforts, we will actively enforce our badge and wristband policy. You must show your badge and wristband to our security personnel at all times to enter the event venue. Please do not remove or share your badge or wristband with others. Finally, please let us know if anyone (or anything) makes you feel unsafe; we want to do everything we can to make you feel like family.
