ChainCatcher news, according to The New York Times, 350 executives, researchers, and engineers in the AI industry recently signed an open letter expressing concerns that AI technology poses an existential threat to humanity. The letter was issued by the nonprofit organization Center for AI Safety, which contains only one sentence: "Reducing the extinction risk posed by artificial intelligence should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war."
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, along with 2018 Turing Award winners Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio, have signed the letter. (source link)
