Since the launch of Origin Dollar Governance (OGV) on July 12, over 40,000 OGN holders and all OUSD holders are eligible to claim OGV through an airdrop for a period of 90 days. Currently, 9.33% of the initial token supply remains unclaimed, and time is running out.
At 00:00 UTC on October 10, all remaining unclaimed OGV will be permanently destroyed.
Additionally, all centralized exchanges participating in the OGV airdrop have been instructed to destroy any additional unclaimed tokens held in their accounts. Please note that these additional tokens are not included in the current destruction metrics, meaning the total number of tokens destroyed may exceed the percentage mentioned above.
- 306,217,404 OGV have been sent to exchanges where their customers are eligible for the airdrop. These exchanges are expected to destroy any unclaimed tokens at the end of the claiming period.
If no more OGV is claimed, 9.33% of the initial supply will be destroyed. These unclaimed tokens are located in the on-chain Merkle distributor contract, where you can see them along with the code that will be executed at the end of the claiming period:
Rewarding users by limiting OGV supply
OGV serves as the governance token for Origin Dollar (OUSD), allowing users to accumulate staking rewards, fees, and voting power in the form of veOGV when OGV is staked for a month or longer. Users can stake OGV for up to four years to earn a variable APY currently exceeding 102%.
Currently, 65% of all OGV has been staked, demonstrating the incredible strength and belief of the community in the long-term growth of the protocol.
