PayPal partners with EnergyWeb to launch an incentive program encouraging Bitcoin miners to use clean energy

2024-04-23 09:37:21

ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, PayPal is providing incentives for Bitcoin miners to take measures to reduce their operational impact on the environment.

On Monday, PayPal stated in a blog post that its blockchain research team has partnered with the nonprofit organization EnergyWeb to develop a clean energy verification platform to monitor and reward energy-efficient Bitcoin mining operations. Critics say that the development of this solution comes at a time when Bitcoin production is putting significant pressure on local power grids and taxpayers in the United States.
