U.S. prosecutors say former FTX executive Ryan Salame's guilty plea did not stop the investigation into his partners
ChainCatcher News, U.S. prosecutors stated that they did not violate the plea agreement reached with former FTX executive Ryan Salame and did not promise to stop the investigation into his partner Michelle Bond. Salame previously accused the government of threatening his partner Bond during plea negotiations, but prosecutors emphasized that they repeatedly made it clear to Salame's attorney that the plea would not affect the ongoing investigation into Bond.
Salame pleaded guilty in September, admitting to participating in a conspiracy for illegal political donations and operating an unregistered money transfer business, and was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. Bond was charged last month with using illegal funds to finance her campaign for the New York State Assembly. Prosecutors also revealed that Salame was involved in misconduct during his time at FTX, including opening accounts using other people's identification and overseeing bribery payments to immigration officials.
