SBF's expected release date is set for December 14, 2044, with a sentence reduction of more than 4 years
ChainCatcher news, according to Business Insider, FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a $11 billion cryptocurrency fraud case, but the Federal Bureau of Prisons has now set his expected release date for December 14, 2044, meaning he will serve less than 21 years in reality.According to prison regulations, inmates can earn up to 54 days of sentence reduction per year for good behavior and can further shorten their sentences by participating in specific prison programs. Bankman-Fried is currently incarcerated at the low-security prison FCI-Terminal Island in California, where he was previously confirmed to have transferred customer funds to his hedge fund Alameda Research.His ex-girlfriend, former CEO of Alameda Research Caroline Ellison, was also sentenced to two years in prison for her involvement in the scheme and has similarly received a sentence reduction, with an expected release in May 2026.
