Google removes commitment not to use AI for weapon development

Local media discovered on Tuesday that Google has removed a commitment from its AI principles that promised to avoid using AI technology for weapons and other potentially harmful applications. Google's Senior Vice President James Manyika and DeepMind head Demis Hassabis subsequently defended this move in a blog post. They argued that businesses and governments need to collaborate on AI that "supports national security."
