ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, the American consumer watchdog Public Citizen filed a complaint with the Department of Justice and the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) on Wednesday, urging them to investigate whether Trump's launch of the meme coin TRUMP violates federal laws prohibiting presidents from soliciting gifts in their official capacity.

Public Citizen emphasized that due to the nature of cryptocurrency transactions, it is difficult to know whether foreign actors are also "gifting the president by purchasing Trump memes," and urged the Department of Justice and OGE to investigate this issue as well.
