South Korea to allow charities and universities to sell cryptocurrency donations in Q2
According to the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of South Korea, the country will allow charities, universities, and cryptocurrency exchanges to sell some of their held cryptocurrencies in the second quarter of this year.
Additionally, the FSC plans to allow South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges to sell crypto assets obtained as fee income to cover operational costs such as salaries and taxes. However, to avoid conflicts of interest with users due to large-scale sell-offs by exchanges, the related operations will be gradually advanced, and a unified "sales guideline" will be established among operators before implementation.
According to the plan, a pilot program will allow about 3,500 listed companies and professional investors to open real-name accounts for investment in the second half of this year.
Earlier today, it was reported that the Financial Commission of Korea plans to open corporate and exchange accounts in three phases.

FOX Business reporter Eleanor Terrett posted on X, stating: "Insiders reveal that as digital assets become a top priority for regulators, the SEC and CFTC are currently discussing how to effectively collaborate on crypto regulation.
One idea is to restore the charter of the CFTC-SEC Joint Advisory Committee, which was established in 2010 to provide a platform for discussing emerging regulatory issues affecting both agencies. The committee has been inactive since 2014.
The CFTC's acting chair called for reform of the advisory committee last year, stating that it is a strong signal of the U.S. adopting a new collaborative and cooperative regulatory approach to digital assets."

Binance founder Zhao Changpeng (CZ) revealed in response to a question from a netizen that he has a Belgian Malinois dog. When community members requested to disclose the dog's photo and name to create meme coins, CZ asked, "How does that work? After I share the dog's photo and name, will people create meme coins? How do we know which one is 'official'? Or does it not really matter?"
After understanding the relevant mechanism, CZ stated, "The way things work is interesting. As with any major decision, I need to think for about a day. Is it respecting his privacy, or should I disclose the dog's information for everyone? Well, I might also interact with several meme coins on BNB Chain."
When someone suggested using random dog photos, CZ responded, "No, that would be deceptive. If we're going to do it, we should do it right. It's just sharing a photo and name of a dog."

Both heads of major regulatory agencies are "insiders," is a new era of crypto regulation beginning?
Since Trump officially took office, favorable policies have emerged frequently. Recently, Trump nominated former Bitfury Chief Legal Officer Jonathan Gould to head the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), responsible for regulating the national banking system. This nomination was submitted to the Senate on February 11 for a five-year term.
Additionally, he nominated a16z policy head Brian Quintenz as chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
The influence of the OCC should not be underestimated, as it is one of the most influential banking regulatory agencies in the U.S. The banks regulated by the OCC control a large portion of the U.S. banking industry's assets, including major banks like Citibank, JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of America. Given the core position of the U.S. banking system in the global financial market, OCC policies will impact international interbank transactions, the U.S. dollar clearing system, and global financial stability. In recent years, the OCC has allowed national banks to offer crypto custody services and explored the integration of stablecoins with the banking system, which has far-reaching implications for the compliant development of the crypto industry.
