ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi reports, a person familiar with the matter said that the IRS will lay off about 6,700 employees on Thursday, and this restructuring may lead to staffing shortages at the agency during the critical tax filing season. The laid-off employees are all probationary employees, who typically have worked at the agency for one to two years and enjoy less job protection than long-term employees. The IRS has about 17,000 probationary employees in total.
