Analyst: The U.S. court ruling adds "another layer" of uncertainty to Trump's tariffs
ChainCatcher news, Paul Ashworth, an analyst at Capital Economics, commented that the U.S. federal court's ruling on Wednesday overturned President Trump's global tariffs, adding "another layer" of uncertainty to these tariffs.
The chief North American economist stated that this ruling could throw the Trump administration's efforts to quickly reach a trade "deal" during the 90-day tariff suspension period into chaos, as the tariffs have now been declared illegal. Ashworth noted that other countries might wait to see if a higher court is willing to overturn this ruling. He added that this ruling "could be appealed by the government all the way to the Supreme Court."
