Federal Reserve's spokesperson: "Excellent" inflation report hides two major concerns, last year's low base effect needs to be vigilant
ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi, "Fed mouthpiece" Nick Timiraos stated that today's "top-notch" inflation report needs to pay attention to two potential issues:
- Analysts expect that with the "Liberation Day" tariffs taking effect, the increase in commodity prices will accelerate in May (especially in June).
- Given that inflation has cooled somewhat by mid-2024, the year-on-year base itself is no longer advantageous (Note: The U.S. April core PCE price index recorded a year-on-year rate of 2.5%, the lowest since March 2021).
