US SEC delays decision on Canary Capital's Litecoin spot ETF application, responses due by June 10

According to former Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed its decision on the Litecoin (LTC) spot ETF application submitted by Canary Capital and has initiated a public comment period to assess whether the ETF meets regulatory requirements to prevent fraud and manipulation. The comment period ended on May 26 (Beijing time May 27), and responses are due by June 9 (Beijing time June 10).

This delay aligns with Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart's prediction yesterday that "it is highly likely they will choose to delay a final decision rather than directly approve or reject it."

DeFi protocol ALEX promises full compensation for all affected users, claims submission deadline on June 11

The Stacks-based DeFi protocol ALEX announced that it was attacked due to a vulnerability in its token listing verification logic, resulting in the attacker extracting funds from multiple asset pools, with total losses amounting to approximately $8.37 million. The specific losses are:

Loss of 8.4 million STX (approximately $5.69 million), loss of 21.85 sBTC (approximately $2.24 million), loss of 149,850 USDC/USDT (approximately $149,800), and loss of 2.80 WBTC/BTC (approximately $28,740).

The ALEX Lab Foundation will fully compensate each affected user using the treasury, with compensation paid in USDC. The compensation calculation will be based on the average on-chain exchange rate between 18:00 and 22:00 on June 6, 2025. Affected wallet addresses will receive private notifications before 7:59 on June 9, 2025, containing the claims form. US prosecutors say DOJ's adjustment of crypto policy does not affect charges against Do Kwon, next pre-trial hearing on June 12

According to The Block, despite the US Department of Justice issuing a memo stating it will not prosecute cryptocurrency companies, US prosecutors indicated they have no plans to modify the charges against Terraform Labs founder Do Kwon.

The court has postponed the trial date from the originally scheduled January 26, 2026, to February 17, 2026. The next pre-trial hearing for the case is set for June 12, 2025. Do Kwon currently faces multiple charges, including commodity fraud, securities fraud, telecommunications fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

If all charges are upheld, Kwon could face up to 130 years in prison. Earlier this year, shortly after being extradited from Montenegro to the US, Kwon pleaded not guilty to these charges in a New York court.
