Trump directly asked Powell to lower interest rates
ChainCatcher news, according to media reports, U.S. President Trump, during his visit to the Federal Reserve headquarters, was interviewed by the media alongside Federal Reserve Chairman Powell. In response to how he would retract his criticisms of Powell, Trump stated that he hopes Powell will lower interest rates and will focus on the committee's rate decisions.
Trump also mentioned that generally speaking, he would fire a project manager who exceeds the budget. When Trump cited the budget data for the renovation of the Federal Reserve headquarters, Powell continuously shook his head beside him, and Trump mocked that the building renovation is a daunting task.
When Trump told Powell, "I hope he lowers interest rates," he gave Powell a hearty pat on the back, to which Powell awkwardly smiled. (Jinshi)
