Anthropic plans to raise $3 to $5 billion at a valuation of $170 billion, led by Iconiq Capital
ChainCatcher news, according to CNBC, the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is in talks with investors to raise between $3 billion and $5 billion in a funding round led by Iconiq Capital, with the company's valuation reaching $170 billion. Anthropic, as a competitor to OpenAI, has seen its valuation grow rapidly in recent months.
In March of this year, the company raised $3.5 billion in a funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with a valuation of $61.5 billion at that time. Although Anthropic's CEO Dario Amodei had previously warned about the national security risks associated with accepting investments from Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds, leaked memos indicate that he is now reconsidering accepting Middle Eastern funding.
