Powell may create interest rate cut uncertainty at the Jackson Hole annual meeting
ChainCatcher news, according to Jin10, Mike Sanders, head of fixed income at Madison Investments, stated that Federal Reserve Chairman Powell may attempt to inject some "uncertainty" into the market's interest rate cut expectations at the Jackson Hole Global Central Bank Annual Meeting this Friday. Currently, the money market bets that the probability of a rate cut by the Fed in September is as high as 84%, but Powell should hope to temper this confidence in case subsequent data comes in worse than expected. He pointed out that the data released between Jackson Hole and the September policy meeting could significantly alter the market outlook.
