Brazilian police arrest 8 suspects, cracking down on Bitcoin robbery case
According to market news, the police in São Paulo, Brazil, successfully arrested 8 suspects involved in a Bitcoin robbery during a large-scale operation codenamed "Operation Cryptonita," while 1 person remains at large.
According to the investigation, the victim disclosed their Bitcoin investment to a worker during office renovations, and subsequently, in November 2024, was robbed at gunpoint by an armed gang. The criminal group forced the victim to transfer approximately $54,000 worth of Bitcoin within about an hour and stole a truck, mobile phones, and laptops valued at $36,200. The police tracked digital transactions and discovered that the suspects created shell companies for money laundering, with most suspects having criminal records and connections to the construction industry.
