OpenAI launches an AI deployment company and acquires Tomoro, receiving over $4 billion in support to accelerate enterprise AI implementation
OpenAI announced the launch of a new business unit, "OpenAI Deployment Company," focused on helping enterprises deeply integrate AI systems into their core business processes, and has agreed to acquire the AI consulting and engineering firm Tomoro. This acquisition will bring approximately 150 Forward Deployed Engineers and deployment specialists to the deployment company.
OpenAI stated that this department will directly assign engineers to work within enterprises, collaborating with management and frontline teams to restructure workflows, build AI production systems, and promote the practical implementation of AI in complex business scenarios. The initial funding scale of the deployment company exceeds $4 billion, with OpenAI as the majority shareholder, TPG leading the investment, and institutions such as Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield participating, along with major capital and consulting firms like Goldman Sachs, SoftBank, McKinsey, and Capgemini.
OpenAI mentioned that currently, over 1 million enterprises are using its products, and the next phase of enterprise AI competition will shift from "using AI" to "restructuring organizations and business systems around AI."
