Polygon founder: The network has officially entered a deflationary state, with over 107 million POL tokens burned this year

Polygon founder Sandeep announced on the X platform that from 2026 to the present, Polygon has minted approximately 105.2 million POL, while approximately 107.7 million POL has been destroyed through the base fee mechanism, resulting in a destruction amount that exceeds the newly issued amount, officially achieving annual net deflation for the Polygon network.

Sandeep further stated that the reduction in POL supply is mainly due to the base fee destruction brought by Polygon serving as a payment chain with high transaction volume. In May, Polygon's transaction volume surpassed that of other public chains, with a monthly transaction count reaching 198 million.
