Iran and Oman are close to reaching a navigation agreement for the Strait of Hormuz, according to officials from the US and Iran

According to Jinshi reports, on August 3, U.S. officials cited Iranian and American officials saying that Iran and Oman are close to reaching an agreement regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the agreement discussed by both parties, vessels entering the Persian Gulf will navigate through a route close to the Iranian coast, while outgoing vessels will take a route near Oman. Vessels traveling back and forth will need to pay a "service fee," and the revenue will be shared equally between Iran and Oman. U.S. officials stated that the Iranian officials' statements are "inaccurate," and any "temporary" navigation routes in the Strait of Hormuz do not require Iranian approval.
