Coinbase has launched over 170 derivative contracts for professional investors in the UK, with a maximum leverage of 50 times

2026-08-13 08:50:53

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase will open over 170 derivative contracts to eligible professional investors in the UK, covering cryptocurrencies, commodities, stocks, and foreign exchange, with perpetual contracts supporting up to 50 times leverage. The services will be gradually rolled out over the coming weeks to months.

The products include futures, perpetual contracts, and cryptocurrency options. Perpetual contracts have no expiration date and support long, short, and neutral strategies; fixed-term futures support up to 20 times leverage and have a fixed settlement date. Coinbase previously obtained authorization for investment services in the UK in July, and the related derivatives business will operate under the investment services license of CB Payments Ltd. The first phase is limited to eligible professional investors in the UK, and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will impose requirements on financial soundness, capital, stress testing, and market integrity.
