Bloomberg: Hyperliquid is in talks with Kraken's parent company regarding the U.S. perpetual contract business

2026-09-01 04:41:10

According to Bloomberg, Hyperliquid Labs is in advanced negotiations with Payward, the parent company of Kraken, to offer perpetual contract products to U.S. traders through the Bitnomial exchange, which is regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The report states that the deal still requires regulatory approval, and representatives from Payward and Hyperliquid Labs have not commented on this. Previously, Kraken announced in May plans to launch CFTC-regulated perpetual contracts through Kraken Pro, with the relevant contracts set to go live on Bitnomial and cleared by Kraken Derivatives US. Additionally, observers have noted that a deployment named "Kraken HIP-3 test DEX" has appeared on Hyperliquid's testing site, but this finding does not confirm Kraken's involvement and does not indicate that HIP-3 is related to the negotiations reported.
