President of El Salvador: El País's report on the transfer of control over Bitcoin reserves is completely incorrect
Bitcoin News posted on the X platform that El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele accused El País of publishing "fake news." Previously, the newspaper reported that El Salvador had transferred the "majority ownership and control" of its 7,763 bitcoins to private operators.
Bukele stated that this claim is "completely false" and indicated that the International Monetary Fund statement cited by El País refers to the transfer of shares in the Chivo wallet, not El Salvador's strategic bitcoin reserves; he also accused the media of "blatantly" lying to readers.
