Trump: The United States will refer to artificial intelligence as "superintelligence" in the future

On Tuesday local time, U.S. President Trump stated at the United Nations General Assembly that all U.S. government documents will now refer to artificial intelligence as "superintelligence." Trump declared that the U.S. firmly opposes any attempts to establish a global mechanism to restrict artificial intelligence, stating that the word "artificial" makes intelligence sound fake, while it is not fake.

Trump further stated that from now on, all U.S. government documents will adopt the more accurate term "superintelligence," and welcomed everyone to the new world of superintelligence, asserting that whoever wins the competition in this field will achieve victory, with the U.S. currently far ahead of other countries. He had previously initiated a poll on social media, proposing to rename artificial intelligence as "superintelligence," "extremely high intelligence," or "supreme intelligence."

When discussing regulation, Trump mentioned that if necessary, the U.S. Department of Justice and other law enforcement agencies will manage the related risks, emphasizing that they will not stifle the development of a technology that will surpass the Industrial Revolution in scale. On the same day, United Nations Secretary-General Guterres called on world leaders to strengthen the regulation of artificial intelligence.
