Apollo Chief Economist: Diesel Price Increase Intensifies Inflation Challenges

Torsten Slok, Chief Economist at Apollo Global Management, warned that record diesel prices could pose an inflation threat greater than the Federal Reserve expects. Slok stated that the impact of diesel-related transportation costs differs from that of gasoline prices, as it is crucial to economic activity, and price increases will be passed on to businesses and consumers. Currently, inflation levels remain above the central bank's 2% target, and Slok believes the Federal Reserve cannot view the rise in diesel prices as a temporary phenomenon.
