K33: Strategy preferred stock financing may cause it to "lose" Bitcoin, with annual dividend obligations increasing by approximately 725 million USD
According to The Block, research institution K33 believes that although Strategy's financing through preferred stock STRC has helped it acquire nearly 100,000 bitcoins in the first half of 2026, the ongoing dividend costs may offset the gains. K33 estimates that STRC increases Strategy's annual dividend obligations by approximately $725 million, which is equivalent to about 8,740 BTC at a price of $83,000 per bitcoin.
If we exclude the approximately $7.5 billion raised through STRC in the first half of the year and redirect the dollar reserves, STRC buybacks, and most dividend expenditures towards purchasing bitcoins, Strategy's holdings would only be about 4,947 BTC more than this hypothetical scenario; based on the aforementioned annualized costs, it would take about seven months to offset this difference. K33 believes that the preferred stock financing model "is a mistake" and prefers that it raises funds through common stock ATM and other methods.
