Troy Cross: Bitcoin balances unlimited printing; the academic community will ultimately accept Bitcoin
In an interview video published by Bitcoin Magazine, philosopher Troy Cross provided answers on whether Bitcoin can truly achieve "the separation of money and state." He stated that he does not expect governments to abandon printing money anytime soon, but believes that Bitcoin serves as a check against endless monetary expansion, as people will choose to seek refuge in Bitcoin.
Cross believes that academia will be the last group to understand Bitcoin, following innovators, financial practitioners, and journalists. He mentioned that the "Getting Bitcoin" initiative has made it to The Wall Street Journal, with related Bitcoin articles receiving 4 to 6 times the normal click rates. He also cited a survey from the Nakamoto Project, indicating that Bitcoin is moving towards normalization, while also increasingly showing signs of partisanship and polarization.
In the interview, Cross also discussed the branding issues Bitcoin faces, as it is often confused with the broader category of crypto assets, and why price trends, education, and "Number Go Up" have become a universal language. He mentioned the need to bridge the gap and reach the 82% of people who do not yet hold Bitcoin, and explained how Bitcoin can keep governments honest. The video chapters also touched on the setbacks of the Clarity Act and why Bitcoin continues to move forward.
