On-chain liquidity and leverage continue to shrink, Gate's institutional team enhances cross-market hedging and diversified asset allocation capabilities

2026-10-16 13:57:36

According to Gate's latest institutional weekly report, the resilience of the U.S. economy and high oil prices drove the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield to a high of 5.36% last week. U.S. stocks continued to rise, supported by the AI theme and earnings expectations, but the cryptocurrency market weakened significantly due to high interest rates, ETF redemptions, and deleveraging pressures, with BTC down 3.31% and ETH down over 7%.

In terms of ETFs, BTC and ETH ETFs recorded net outflows of approximately $679 million and $542 million, respectively. Gate's TradFi weekly trading volume was about $90 billion, with trading further concentrated on indices, ETFs, and U.S. stocks. Additionally, on-chain liquidity and leverage overall contracted, with stablecoin supply decreasing by about $900 million and Aave's borrowing balance dropping by 4.3%; the derivatives market saw increased hedging demand, with BTC open interest down 2.46% and the options skew turning negative across all maturities, indicating a defensive inclination among institutional funds.

Against the backdrop of increased market volatility and the differentiation of risk assets, institutional investors' demand for downside hedging and diversified asset allocation continues to rise. Gate continues to expand its multi-asset service system covering digital assets and traditional finance, including spot, contracts, TradFi, stocks, ETFs, and options. Relying on infrastructures like OES and CrossEx, Gate optimizes API execution and settlement collaboration, helping institutional clients trade efficiently and manage risks in a complex environment.
