ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, Kraken's Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution Ink will enable a permissionless fraud proof mechanism this Thursday, marking an important technological advancement in its rapid development.Ink becomes the first superchain network to launch a multi-"challenger" mechanism after testing on the Optimism mainnet, initially operated by the automated protocol Gelato and Kraken running the challenger system. Fraud proofs are a crucial feature of Optimistic Rollups, allowing users to challenge the validity of transactions and correct erroneous states.The initial challenger fund for Ink is provided by Kraken with 49 ETH (approximately $156,000), and users can also participate in challenges by staking ETH, thereby promoting on-chain decentralization.

With the introduction of this mechanism, anyone can permissionlessly monitor and challenge invalid withdrawal transactions, eliminating the need for trust in third parties.The Base team stated that they have been working closely with Optimism to ensure the smooth launch and security upgrade of fault proofs. During the upgrade, all pending withdrawal transactions will need to be re-verified.

Another important step in achieving the first phase of decentralization for Base is the addition of a Security Council to its contract upgrade keys. Once this step is completed, Base can only upgrade contracts based on actions taken by the Optimism Security Council, which only takes actions approved by Optimism Governance.
