ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, 35 U.S. House representatives have jointly written to the Department of Justice, requesting an investigation into the private dinner held by President Trump on May 22 for TRUMP Meme coin holders, alleging potential violations of the "foreign emoluments clause" in the Constitution and federal anti-bribery laws. The representatives pointed out that most attendees are suspected to be foreign nationals, and this undisclosed contact could become a channel for foreign governments to influence U.S. policy. Meanwhile, Democrats are pushing two pieces of legislation: one to limit contact between high-ranking government officials and their relatives with cryptocurrency; and another to add an amendment targeting the stablecoin platform associated with the Trump family in the "GENIUS Act." Legal experts noted that if the Department of Justice determines that the dinner constitutes foreign influence, it could lead to a constitutional lawsuit.
