The Digital Renminbi International Operation Center has launched the "Shubi Da" cross-border settlement platform, with the first batch signing contracts with 26 institutions

The Digital Renminbi International Operation Center officially signed service agreements with the first batch of 26 financial institutions in Shanghai, marking the official launch of the brand operation of the upgraded "Digital Currency Cross-Border Settlement Comprehensive Service Platform" (CBETS).It is reported that with the overall upgrade of the infrastructure architecture, the original three platforms for cross-border digital payment, blockchain services, and digital assets have been officially integrated into CBETS. This platform has outstanding advantages such as low access costs, high settlement efficiency, and strong compatibility: it technically supports both centralized and blockchain systems, and the message standards are compatible with ISO20022; the business scenarios not only support cross-border retail scenarios such as barcode payment and tap-to-pay but also comprehensively cover remittances, trade, and investment and financing settlement, as well as wholesale and financial innovation businesses. The first batch of 26 financial institutions includes overseas branches and subsidiaries of banks such as ICBC, ABC, BOC, CCB, Bank of Communications, Pudong Development Bank, and Guangfa Bank, as well as Standard Chartered China and Xinyin International. After the business goes live, its services will cover multiple countries and regions including Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Laos, Thailand, the UAE, Qatar, and Brazil, further leveraging digital technology to facilitate cross-border trade and investment financing.

Joseph Lubin: Ethereum will not have a "second foundation," nor will it become a completely zero-knowledge proof-based protocol in the next 3-5 years

According to The Block, Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin stated that Ethereum is expected to evolve into a protocol fully based on zero-knowledge proofs (ZK Proof) within the next 3 to 5 years, which will not only optimize the main chain but also enhance Ethereum's compatibility with Layer 2.Joseph Lubin mentioned that he supports the "Rollup-centric roadmap," believing that by strengthening Layer 1, introducing the "Lean Ethereum" initiative, and promoting ZK proofs, the foundational layer of Ethereum can be significantly upgraded. Lean Ethereum aims to achieve over 10,000 transactions per second while maintaining a high level of decentralization on the mainnet, and supports privacy and quantum-resistant solutions.Regarding Layer 2, Joseph Lubin pointed out that ZK technology has already achieved real-time proofs in some L2 networks and plans to extend this capability to Layer 1, ultimately transitioning to a fully ZK foundational protocol supported by multiple provers. For example, projects like the Linea chain developed by Consensys and Gnosis are utilizing zero-knowledge proofs to achieve cross-network synchronized transactions, potentially eliminating the need for bridging and unifying fragmented liquidity.Joseph Lubin emphasized that the initial "differentiation phase" of the Rollup roadmap aims to provide experimental space for Layer 2 technologies. Although it may temporarily disperse liquidity, it lays the groundwork for Ethereum's future limitless scalability and technological iteration. He believes that some L2 technologies will become systemically important components, and this exploratory process is necessary.Additionally, Joseph Lubin responded to rumors regarding recent personnel changes at the Ethereum Foundation (EF) and the "second foundation," stating that there will not be a second foundation. The EF will continue to focus on core protocol development, usability and scalability, as well as institutional collaboration, while supporting at least three independent teams to spin off from the EF, focusing on protocol, user experience, and institutional expansion efforts.

Joe Lubin strongly supports the reform of the Ethereum Foundation: Ethereum has not declined and is expected to welcome a new growth cycle

According to CoinDesk, Ethereum co-founder and ConsenSys CEO Joe Lubin stated that the recent controversies surrounding budget cuts at the Ethereum Foundation (EF), employee departures, and leadership adjustments do not indicate that the organization is in crisis, but rather represent a necessary evolution in its development process. The Ethereum Foundation should focus on maintaining the core technology and values of the network, preserving a "trustworthy neutrality" position, while responsibilities such as ecological expansion, institutional collaboration, and commercial promotion should be undertaken by other organizations to avoid potential conflicts of interest between protocol development and commercial interests. In response to external doubts about the direction of the foundation's reforms, Lubin noted that many criticisms stem from misunderstandings of the foundation's role. He pointed out that the Ethereum Foundation is promoting further separation between protocol governance and commercial operations, and the future Ethereum ecosystem will not be dominated by a single entity, but rather multiple organizations will take on ecological construction responsibilities in different areas, collectively driving network development. This model differs from some blockchain projects that concentrate protocol development and business strategy within the same entity, aligning more closely with Ethereum's decentralized development philosophy.Regarding market views that "Ethereum is declining," Lubin denied this. He stated that in recent years, artificial intelligence has replaced the cryptocurrency industry as the most关注的技术叙事 in the capital market, leading to a shift in funding and investment focus, but this does not mean that Ethereum has lost its competitiveness. On the contrary, after years of scaling and infrastructure development, Ethereum is gradually becoming capable of supporting the next wave of large-scale adoption and is expected to usher in a new growth cycle in the future.
