Hong Kong police arrested a fraud gang involving 1 million USDT and seized 3,000 joss paper notes

ChainCatcher news, according to Sing Tao Daily, Hong Kong police received a report on April 12 from a 35-year-old man who claimed that after reselling virtual currency USDT worth about 1 million HKD at a shop in Tsim Sha Tsui, he failed to recover the cash and suspected he had been scammed.The Technology and Wealth Crime Unit of the Yau Tsim Police District conducted an investigation and launched operations across multiple districts in Hong Kong on May 13, arresting three local men aged between 31 and 34 on suspicion of obtaining property by deception.Police seized 3,000 joss paper, a money counter, and a cash counting machine from the shop. The investigation revealed that the arrested men showed the victim joss paper and asked him to transfer virtual currency to a designated wallet, then refused to hand over the cash under various pretexts, resulting in the victim losing virtual currency worth about 1 million HKD.
