The Australian government bans gambling websites from accepting cryptocurrency and credit cards

ChainCatcher news, the Australian government has banned gambling websites from accepting cryptocurrencies and credit cards. The government announced this ban at the end of last year and stipulated that companies had six months to comply. Now this window has expired, and Australian online gambling portals may face fines of up to $155,000 for violations. Dedicated gambling regulatory bodies have also been granted greater powers to enforce these restrictions.According to the new regulations, in Australia, digital currencies like Bitcoin can no longer be used for online betting. The same restrictions have existed in real-world gambling, but due to the "low risk" of lotteries, these restrictions have not extended to lottery games.
