first_img Cysic cross-chain bridge suffered unauthorized minting of 10 million CYS, the bridge has been suspended

The decentralized computing network Cysic released an event report on platform X stating that its cross-chain bridge was attacked on Saturday. The attacker exploited a processing vulnerability to unauthorizedly mint 10 million CYS on the BNB Smart Chain, and the cross-chain bridge has now been suspended. Preliminary investigation results indicate that the attacker accessed the database supporting the cross-chain bridge without authorization. The report shows that the minting occurred at 12:31:38 UTC, and Cysic added the receiving address to the token contract blacklist at 13:47:52. At that time, the address still held approximately 2.8 million CYS, and transfers have been restricted. Cysic stated that this incident was limited to the message processing and minting aspects of the cross-chain bridge and did not affect the mainnet or other operational systems, nor did it result in the theft or unauthorized transfer of CYS or other assets already in user wallets.Cysic emphasized that the quantity of minted tokens alone cannot determine the final dollar loss, and related token transfers, exchanges, and actual losses are still under verification. The company has hired a security agency and plans to release a follow-up report after the current investigation phase concludes. CYS is used to coordinate incentives for users, computing power providers, governance participants, and contributors within the Cysic network.

first_img Troy Cross: Bitcoin balances unlimited printing; the academic community will ultimately accept Bitcoin

In an interview video published by Bitcoin Magazine, philosopher Troy Cross provided answers on whether Bitcoin can truly achieve "the separation of money and state." He stated that he does not expect governments to abandon printing money anytime soon, but believes that Bitcoin serves as a check against endless monetary expansion, as people will choose to seek refuge in Bitcoin.Cross believes that academia will be the last group to understand Bitcoin, following innovators, financial practitioners, and journalists. He mentioned that the "Getting Bitcoin" initiative has made it to The Wall Street Journal, with related Bitcoin articles receiving 4 to 6 times the normal click rates. He also cited a survey from the Nakamoto Project, indicating that Bitcoin is moving towards normalization, while also increasingly showing signs of partisanship and polarization. In the interview, Cross also discussed the branding issues Bitcoin faces, as it is often confused with the broader category of crypto assets, and why price trends, education, and "Number Go Up" have become a universal language. He mentioned the need to bridge the gap and reach the 82% of people who do not yet hold Bitcoin, and explained how Bitcoin can keep governments honest. The video chapters also touched on the setbacks of the Clarity Act and why Bitcoin continues to move forward.

Gate Executive Director Edwin Cheung: Cross-border payments are expected to become an important driving force for the next stage of growth in the cryptocurrency industry

According to a recent report by AlphaWire, Edwin Cheung, Executive Director of Gate, stated in an interview during TOKEN2049 Singapore that the payment business will become an important growth direction for Gate, serving individuals and corporate users with daily fund transfer needs. On October 7, Gate officially launched Gate Money, allowing users to open a global electronic bank account in their own name through the Gate App, and as services gradually open, it will accept payments in over 60 local currencies, connecting digital assets with everyday financial scenarios. Edwin Cheung pointed out that stablecoins can reduce the number of intermediary banks in cross-border transfers and enhance the transparency of fund flows. In the future, it will coexist long-term with traditional bank transfers, instant payments, and QR code payments, and will play a greater role in cross-currency payments as services develop in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Gate Money integrates functions of fiat currency, digital assets, stocks, ETFs, and gold, providing integrated financial services.Regarding institutional business and security, he mentioned that institutional investors remain highly concerned about liquidity and counterparty risk. Gate offers an OES over-the-counter settlement solution, allowing institutional clients' assets to be retained in third-party custodians while still utilizing Gate's liquidity and trading services, and enhancing transparency with reserve proof. He emphasized that user trust is crucial, and Gate's compliance qualifications, risk control system, and cooperation with various market regulatory agencies are key to the sustainable development of the business.
