Sentinel releases a new interactive map that supports filtering of dVPN nodes and HNS resolvers

We are excited to announce the launch of Sentinel's new interactive map, representing Sentinel dVPN nodes as well as active nodes hosting Handshake Network Services (HNS). The map also allows users to filter between views of Sentinel nodes that support the Wireguard protocol and the V2Ray protocol.

The project's code will soon be open-sourced, and the interactive node map will become a community-built utility, where contributors can freely fork and improve the map, including its design and functionality.

Handshake is a decentralized naming system built on the Handshake blockchain. It aims to replace the traditional Domain Name System (DNS), allowing anyone to register and manage top-level domains without a central authority or intermediary. Handshake resolvers are nodes on the Handshake network responsible for resolving domain names to IP addresses.

Currently, there are nearly 100 Handshake resolvers hosted by dVPN nodes in the Sentinel ecosystem, with Sentinel contributing a significant proportion of globally hosted HNS resolvers. At present, only dVPN nodes that support Wireguard can host HNS resolvers, and support for V2Ray nodes will be added in the future to host HNS resolvers.

The decentralized spirit and privacy of Sentinel align with those of Handshake, as both projects are committed to creating a more decentralized and secure internet. By allowing anyone to register and manage top-level domains without centralized authorization, Handshake promotes a more open and decentralized internet. Similarly, Sentinel's dVPN ecosystem provides users with a secure and private way to connect to the internet without central authorities or intermediaries.

The launch of the interactive node map marks the restart of the node incentive program. Retroactive rewards are currently being calculated and will be distributed soon, with new terms for the upcoming node incentive program to be announced. Let's get our node count back to over four digits!
