MetLife: U.S. inflation unaffected by tariffs, interest rate cut expectations remain unchanged
According to Jinshi reports, MetLife economist Tani Fukui pointed out in a report that U.S. inflation has been largely unaffected by tariffs. The January CPI was 2.4%, further aligning with the Federal Reserve's 2% inflation target after a reading of 2.7% in December. Fukui stated that this is a very benign inflation report, supporting her view that the transmission effect of tariffs will be minimal this year, and maintaining her prediction of three rate cuts by the Federal Reserve this year.
